10 YEARS: Designing an Archive
Lecture by Rob Saunders
Monday 10 November 2025, h. 17.15
Museo Correr, Sala delle Quattro Porte
In this lecture, Rob Saunders shares ten stories tracing the transformation, over the course of a decade, of a private collection into a public-facing institution—highlighting the people, collections, programs, and circumstances that have shaped Letterform Archive into what it is today.
Letterform Archive is a nonprofit center dedicated to inspiring, educating, and building community. Since its opening in 2015, thanks to the generosity of its donors, the Archive has grown from a private collection of 15,000 items into a public resource of over 100,000 objects. Its holdings span continents and movements, all united by the common thread of graphic design: the written word.
Each year, the Archive serves thousands of visitors worldwide—students, professionals, and design enthusiasts alike. In addition to hosting tours and public events, the Archive reaches a global audience through social media and a continuously updated online photo archive. It also curates exhibitions and publications that showcase and interpret its growing collection.
Admission by invitation only, subject to availability.
