Museo Correr

SET DESIGNS AT THE FENICE 1792-1902.

Project

This exhibition charts the history of the Fenice Opera House through designs for various productions put on there from the theatre’s very opening in 1792 to the last production that Pietro Bertoja designed for the Fenice in 1902.
The Museo Correr has a unique and invaluable collection of such design sketches; and thus it seemed only natural to celebrate the re-opening of the theatre with an exhibition of material that reveals just how innovative a force the Venice Opera House was in nineteenth-century music and theatre, both within Italy and beyond.
